NBIB Tulip Festival 2024
This year we celebrate our thirteenth Tulip Festival. Once again, we have a beautiful leaflet designed by Rosie Oberlander which tells the story of tulips and describes the 15 different tulip groups. We have chosen nearly 50 varieties to plant which include some exciting new varieties, many old favourites and more bulbs than ever. The bulbs were all planted in November and have had to cope with all sorts of weather conditions this winter, but it is amazing how they always come through. You can see our tulips at the Station, the High Street and Quality Street and other sites around the town. East Lothian Council Amenities Services have again planted up the War Memorial and the display beds in the Lodge grounds and look after many permanent displays of tulips which always look stunning.
The tulip leaflet shows a map of the town with walks marked out which will take you around the town and show all the different varieties. There are early tulips, double tulips, parrot tulips and late varieties as well as dwarf tulips in the rockery in the Lodge and lots of others planted in gardens all over the town. This year we plan to hold a fundraising Tulip Coffee Morning in the Abbey Church Hall on Saturday 13th April at 10 o'clock, with home baking, a tombola and of course, lots of tulips.
You can pick up a tulip leaflet from the library and in many of the shops. You can also download it here. If you follow us on X (twitter) or Facebook you will see lots of pictures of the displays when they are at their best. Please add in your own favourites to our Twitter display and help us to make 2024 the best Tulip Festival yet!
