Horticulture:The Biblical Beds

In front of the Abbey Church are two beds hosting a range of plants referred to in the Bible and described by large informative labels. Above them on the south facing wall are trained a grape vine and a fig. The sheltered position helps two types of palm survive the winter along with olives, oleander, aloes, cistus, Mediterranean bulbs and a Burning Bush, Euonymous alatus, the symbol of the Church of Scotland.
